Taste of America 2014 Elite Eight Finalists Announced

Washington, D.C. (June 9, 2014) – CQ Roll Call announced the finalists in Taste of America 2014. Eight states will face off in the final round of the competition vying for the 2014 Roll Call Taste of America trophy and bragging rights as the #1 food in America.

Round 3 featured a number of close contests as Oregon’s Blackberry Pie narrowly beat Montana Steak by a margin of only 80 votes. Meanwhile, Maine Lobster Rolls clobbered Delaware Boardwalk Fries with more than a 4,000 vote margin. North Carolina-style BBQ moves on as the sole BBQ representative, as Texas and Memphis-style BBQ were both eliminated in earlier rounds.

The Elite Eight are:
Utah’s Cherry Cobbler
Oregon’s Blackberry Pie
Iowa Bacon
Illinois’ Deep Dish Pizza
Maine Lobster Roll
Maryland Crab Cakes
Kentucky Fried Chicken
North Carolina-style BBQ

Voting continues in the final round through June 20th. Food from the Elite Eight states will be featured during Roll Call’s Taste of America VIP Reception at the Diamond Club at Nationals Park prior to the Congressional Baseball game on June 25th, where the winner will be announced. Food, beer and baseball will all come together, making this event the ultimate American celebration.
