Washington, D.C. (February 18, 2016) – CQ Roll Call announced today the launch of a new policy and analysis initiative with the National Governors Association (NGA) at their annual gathering of governors this month.
NGA brought together more than 40 governors, staff and stakeholders for its annual Winter Meeting, February 18-22. CQ Roll Call editorial experts moderated panels at NGA Committee Sessions.
David Ellis, Chief Content Officer at CQ Roll Call, conducted a briefing for governors’ chiefs of staff on the leading issues emerging nationwide, based on CQ’s exclusive coverage of local policy debates.
David Ellis said, “CQ has expanded its coverage of local policy with a new state news team. We are delighted to have a presence at the NGA Winter Meeting, since the organization represents state officials at the forefront of the biggest issues facing lawmakers today. In many cases, state officials are formulating solutions that could have an impact on the national debate in Washington.’’
The opening session of the meeting began with remarks by Joseph Lake, Global Economist at The Economist Intelligence Unit, who addressed the U.S. and global economic landscape in a panel called, “The State of the U.S. Economy: Are We Headed Into Recession?” He was joined by NGA Chair Gov. Gary Herbert of Utah, NGA Vice Chair Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia and panelists from Moodys, Bank of America and IMF.
“I am committed to raising the profile of NGA and thrilled to work with CQ Roll Call to make that happen,” NGA executive director and CEO Scott Pattison said. “Through this partnership, I hope to communicate to decision makers in Washington that the nation’s governors are not just another special interest group, but the chief decision-makers in their states who can solve problems.”
“The opportunity to work with NGA is an exciting endeavor for CQ Roll Call,” said Beth Bronder, CQ Roll Call Publisher, “as we are uniquely positioned to bring deep policy expertise and media outreach solutions to an organization poised to have considerably more influence in Washington under its new executive director and CEO, Scott Pattison. Both sides of our business are eager to work with the governors as so many of the Congressional policy debates we cover have direct impact on the states.”
