Title:
Arts Wisconsin

Description:
In 2011, newly-elected Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's state budget proposal ignited a massive protest movement in the state. Thousands of Wiconsinites from every corner of the state marched numerous times over the course of several months at the State Capitol in Madison. Arts Wisconsin's annual legislative day - Arts Day - took place in the middle of that time period. We believe - we know - that the arts are part of everyone's life, regardless of political affiliation. We didn't want to protest, but we did want to embrace the energy and fervor of the people and the spirit of the marchers. We held an "Arts March" as part of Arts Day, walking from the conference hotel two blocks away up to the Capitol. This photo captures the excitement of the day, and the work Arts Wisconsin does to advocate and speak up for the arts throughout Wisconsin!
