Washington, D.C. (May 16, 2017) — The Economist Group’s CQ Roll Call has named veteran Washington journalist Chris Frates Executive Analyst for Enlighten, a new product suite designed specifically for senior executives.
In a Washington where President Trump wants to rewrite the rules governing huge swaths of the nation’s economy — reforming everything from healthcare, to taxes, to the Internet — Frates will use his strong network and deep Washington experience to help clients understand how the president’s agenda is faring and where the action is heading next.
Enlighten gives clients the opportunity to hear directly from Frates through regular, in-person briefings, allowing them to ask questions and talk to one of Washington’s most plugged-in journalists. Frates will also host Enlighten’s events.
“During this time of incredible political uncertainty, I’m excited to help CQ clients, who are some of the nation’s most influential leaders, better understand what’s happening in Washington and how it will likely unfold,” Frates said. “After years spent talking into cameras and microphones, I look forward to talking directly with clients about the issues of the day and answering their questions.”
Paul McHale, CQ Roll Call’s president said, “Enlighten and the addition of Chris Frates shows our company’s commitment to serve clients in innovative ways.”
“It is a privilege to oversee the leading media company covering the Hill, and we have the responsibility to provide our clients the intelligence necessary to make informed decisions.”
Steve Komarow, CQ Roll Call’s executive editor and senior vice president said, “It’s great to have a new outlet for CQ’s authoritative content. Frates will bring together information from CQ and his own knowledge and experience, helping clients of Enlighten better understand the events of today.’’
Frates, a veteran journalist with 20 years of experience, has worked at the highest levels of print, digital and broadcast journalism. He was an award-winning on-air investigative correspondent for CNN. He has also worked as a reporter for Politico, National Journal and The Denver Post, where he was part of the breaking news team that was a finalist for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize.
His work has appeared in publications such as The Washington Post, The Atlantic and Fast Company, and his political analysis has been featured on networks including CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX News and MSNBC.
Frates co-hosts the national, weekly radio show Politics Inside Out on SiriusXM, which is broadcast to 30 million subscribers.
