CQ Roll Call Launches New Transportation Blog — “The Container”
Washington, D.C. (June 16, 2014) – CQ Roll Call announced today the launch of The Container, the transportation policy hub at CQ Roll Call. Longtime Washington reporter Tom Curry will take the helm at The Container, the third Policy Pulse blog introduced on Roll Call.
“The Container will report on transportation policy and regulation – from railroad safety to car-sharing services to tolls on highways,” says Curry. “And, of course, we’ll track the latest twists and turns in the efforts by Congress to replenish the depleted Highway Trust Fund, or find an alternative way to pay for highways and other infrastructure,”
The Container blog will draw from the reporting of the CQ Roll Call transportation reporters and editors as well as GAO and CRS reports, think tank panel discussions, Wall Street investment reports, and academic experts. The Container will offer comprehensive analysis of how Congress, federal regulatory agencies, and state and local governments oversee the business of moving goods and people safely, and how our infrastructure helps or hobbles America’s trade with the rest of the world.
Curry has covered a wide array of topics for NBCNews.com and MSNBC.com, from fiscal policy, to national security topics. He has also covered every presidential campaign since 1996. Curry won a Freedom Forum Foundation Journalism Fellowship in Asian Studies in 1993 and was happy to spend a year studying economics, history, and Chinese at the University of Hawaii, then traveling (mostly by rail) throughout China and the Russian Far East. Curry graduated from Haverford College and received a master’s degree in teaching from Reed College.
The Policy Pulse blogs on RollCall.com cover specific policy communities in Washington. Each will be a smart, policy-focused forum for exchanging ideas and staying abreast of news developments and grassroots initiatives. The first, Technocrat, launched in May and has quickly gained an audience, growing by more than 64% in its first month. Five By Five launched on June 9th and had more than 12,000 visits in its first week.
